At BradburyART, we are always on the lookout for exceptional talent that can inspire and captivate art enthusiasts. Today, we're thrilled to announce the latest addition to our gallery's esteemed lineup – the incredibly talented Tim Fowler.
Tim Fowler: Where Imagination Meets Canvas
Tim Fowler is not just an artist; he's a storyteller. His art transcends traditional boundaries, delving into the realm of semi-abstract works and smaller studies. Tim's pieces are a vibrant tapestry of texture, tone, and emotion, offering viewers a unique opportunity to explore the depths of artistic expression.
A Journey of Inspiration
Tim's journey as an artist is a fascinating tale of inspiration and dedication. As a child, his passion for drawing and painting was ignited when he stumbled upon the 1996 biopic of pop icon and neo-expressionist painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. This serendipitous encounter with Basquiat's freewheeling approach and shared cultural heritage set Tim on a course towards becoming an artist himself.
From Passion to Profession
A decade after that pivotal moment, Tim graduated with a BA in Fine Art and embarked on a career in the world of art. His unique creative process involves deconstructing subjects and rebuilding them, often using a signature palette of vivid hues. He plays with opacity, textural contrasts, finishes, and light to create pieces that are as thought-provoking as they are visually stunning.
An Artistic Alchemist
Tim Fowler's artistry knows no bounds. He fearlessly combines oil, acrylic, spray, enamel, and graffiti inks in his works, resulting in compositions that are physically demanding to create. These pieces often require unconventional tools, from broad brushes to long-handled marker paint mops, to achieve the desired marks, strokes, drips, scrapes, and smears across the canvas.
Exploring the Unseen
One of Tim's remarkable projects, 'Memento Mori - 100 skulls,' emerged from his desire to strip away the physical identity of his subjects and convey their energy through vibrant colors and spontaneous mark-making. These experimental works garnered an overwhelmingly positive response, with every painting being sold within two hours at a gallery event.
Botanical Inspiration
Tim's artistry took an intriguing turn when he became enamored with tropical banana plants and began incorporating their shapes and energy into his abstract works. Supported by Arts Council England funding, he delved into researching the links between plantations, cash crops, and his own Caribbean heritage. A residency at Touchlight Genetics allowed him to explore this newfound passion in a lab setting, while Kew Gardens and the Eden Project provided further inspiration.
A Global Art Presence
Tim Fowler's art has found homes in the UK, Europe, and the USA. His collectors include notable names like Touchlight Genetics, BT, singer-songwriter Mahalia, and the New Walk Museum in Leicester. Tim's work resonates with audiences worldwide, and we are honored to showcase his talent here at BradburyART.
